-- THE LOCATION --

Sunset Beach is located on the southernmost barrier island on the North Carolina coastline. It is a relaxing three mile long island with wide powdery white sand beaches that is unspoiled by commercial development. Sunset Beach is widely viewed as one of the cleanest, family aligned beaches on the east coast. Its white sandy beaches are a great place to sunbathe, walk, ride a bicycle, jog or just sit and relax while watching the boats and the dolphins come and go. Bird Island is also located on the west end of the island. Bird Island is a pristine, undeveloped 1300 acre state preserve that is home to loggerhead turtles and the Purple Sandpiper found only on Bird Island. This end of the beach is very cavernous, peaceful and peaceful and provides definitely gorgeous unobstructed vistas of the ocean, marsh and the impressive sunsets for which Sunset is known.

Sunset is centrally located providing simple access to Calabash, 'The Seafood Capital of the World', just two miles away, where you can feast on the local seafood, buy fresh shrimp off of one of the shrimp boats or charter a boat and catch your own dinner. North Myrtle Beach is just 15 miles away, Myrtle Beach 25 miles away and historic Wilmington is roughly 45 miles away. You can catch a world class show in one of the many theaters in Myrtle Beach or you can tour a battleship in Wilmington. For the shopper there are countless opportunities including Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach and two Tanger Outlet centers. If golfing is your thing the area is also considered the 'Golf Capital of the World'. Sea Trail, The Thistle, Lions Paw, Tigers Eye, Panthers Run, Crow Creek, Oyster Bay, The Pearl and Sandpiper are just some of the courses within 15 mins. of Sunset Beach.

Our top Sunset Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by having your group select dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 409 37th Street...Beautiful beach home on the desirable West end of Sunset Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
