How to book the best Holden Beach vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • To start, have your group select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. A Southern Exposure, Beach Front and Lovin’ It! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
