Tips for getting the perfect Sunset Beach rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful new 2-story home near Intracoastal Waterway with patio, W\/D, kitchen has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
