Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best rental home in Oak Island:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Atlantic Horizon: Large 2023 New Construction with a Pool, Elevator and Hot Tub! has 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
