Cape Fear area vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and picking your Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Dip Inn: Basic beach house with upgraded appliances has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
