The Neighborhood:
Located on the southern end of North Carolina’s beautiful coastline, the Town of Oak Island encompasses nearly 20 square miles; offering 10 miles of beachfront, along the 12-mile-long island from which the Town derives its name. The island itself is marked by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) to the north. With roughly 8,400 residents year-round, the Town features a summertime population that swells to nearly 50,000 visitors and seasonal residents alike. However, the Town works hard at successfully maintaining a balance of its bustling, vibrant tourism, with the traditional, peaceful appeal of a modest southern town.

We live just a short drive away so don't hesitate to reach out, should you need anything!

Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's Cape Fear area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
