Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Cape Fear area vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cotton's Cottage - Bullard Realty has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
