Our top Rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family decide on dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Cozy getaway near Cape Fear river has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area beach you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
