Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the perfectrental home:

  • First, have your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean and Sound views with private pier and boat slips has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
