Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your best deal:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Hearts Ease at Sunset Beach: relax, unwind. get comfortable! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
