Getting the best Cape Fear area rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Gull Cottage: Oceanfront house in Yaupon Beach near the Oak Island Fishing Pier has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
