Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Cape Fear area rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Holden Beach. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.

  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home.
