Tricks and tips to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ivy Cottage: Dog-Friendly, Oceanfront Cottage with Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
