Finding the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Wilmington. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Dog Friendly 5 miles to Wrightsville Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
