Just finished renovations!!! Overlooking the 9th tee box on the golf course with south beach access #9 on the other side of the home just across the street.

Tern Back Time is Located on the secluded Bald Head Island with no cars (golf carts only), and a nature preserve, it is an ideal hideaway. The home is mins. from the marina/harbour, BHI Club and a beach access #9 on the western side by the Cape Fear River. Located on a cul-de-sac, it is a peaceful location, great for little ones who want to practice their bicycle riding skills!

Ride over on the pedestrian ferry and you will feel immediately casual as you get off at Bald Head Island and board a tram to "Tern Back Time". 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with 3 porches, this property has it all for your family with an open concept with bedrooms on the other end of the home!

Here are a few of the updates newly finished in the home:

-The giant master bedroom has a king bed, sizable dresser, desk and direct porch access.

-The second bedroom has bunk beds and queen bed.

-The third bedroom has bunk beds and 2 full size beds, dresser. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are the exact same dimensions and share a walk in closet that could be joining or locked separetely.

-The fourth bedroom has a queen bed and a pull out couch bed, desk and dresser.

We have a 4 and 6 seater golf cart available with new batteries, 5 bicycles supplied. (Additional bicycles are available for rent on the island). An outdoor shower (not enclosed), and grille are also available at the home.

The top floor living area features an updated kitchen with quartz countertops, a long dining table that seats 10, 6 countertop stools, and a outdoor dining table that seats 6. There are two cavernous seating areas on the top floor, along with a enormous TV for those movie nights! The living area opens up to porches on both sides of the home. One side is facing the 9th hole tee box on the handsome golf course and the other side faces the ocean where you can get a modest glimpse which has across the street beach access. We have a gas and charcoal grille available to guests too.

You may purchase a temporary membership under our Lifestyle membership at Bald Head Island Club. Bald Head Island Club has sports like croquet, tennis, golf, etc., great pools for kids and eateries. This is a separate purchase that you coordinate directly with the club.

Once you have booked the home with us, go to these respective links to request a temporary guest membership with the club of your choice. Do not wait as they process these in advance and will cap temporary memberships! We will need to authorize your temporary membership under our full Lifestyle membership. Accordingly, you are responsible for any damages or infractions at the Clubs. Be sure that you submit the form to the club in advance, as there may be a fee for requests with less than 5 days notice.

A few notes about Club changes for 2022. They have changed dates when renters can access the clubs. Some dates/times are for permanent members only. Also, they capped how many temporary rental memberships are available, so request this ASAP before they sell out! Payment is now based on per person instead of per bedroom. Lastly, they are now capping the number of individual temporary members per home, and our home's cap is 10. If you have more than 10 guests, not all can use the club. I strongly suggest contacting the club to ask your questions and get clarification. Unfortunately, we do not know all of the details, and calling or emailing the club will be best at lobby@bhiclub.net. Once you make guest membership then you can contact diningres@bhiclub.net to make dining reservations during your stay.

Visit the club websites and see if the BHI Conservancy to learn more about the island's various pools, golf, kids camps, kids dissection classes, and more! Our family has really appreciated their amenities. The historic Old Baldy light home also offers a chance for a birds eye view of the island, while water crafts are also an option for those who appreciate sailing, kayaking and more.https://www.bhic.org/

Book the tram early as prime times are taken quickly!! For reservations, your address is 12 Royal Tern Court.

A modest starter supply kit with a roll of paper towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, 1 roll of toilet paper for each restroom, a few dishwasher and laundry pods are included.

This is a non-smoking property. The homeowner has serious allergies to tobacco products, and therefore we can not allow any smoking or vaping on the property (indoors or outdoors). Thank you for understanding how important this is for us.

We provide (1) 4 seater golf carts and (1) 6 seater golf cart.

We provide 5 bicycles, surf board and beach 10 chairs.

Animals are allowed upon request only (up to two mature dogs only). There will be a $500 non-returnable pet deposit if family pets are allowed. * We allow pets upon approval only and up to 2 dogs for a non-returnable fee of $500. If you do not pay the pet fee and we find out that a guest had a pet, then you will be liable for a $1000 fee.

Clean linens and bath towels are supplied.

Items available at the home (note this inventory is taken at the beginning of the season. Since we have renters, we cannot guarantee condition or even that they will still be there): 1 Pack n play, infant high chair, beach towels, 8 beach chairs, 5 bicycles.

Each guest who drives the golf carts MUST be 16 or older. The guest who acknowledges and pay's for this rental must be aware that they are responsible for any golf cart damages during the their stay. Owners are NOT liable for any guest injuries while using golf carts or accidents on the rental property.

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
