Cape Fear area vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the rightvacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Marina Memories Townhome has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
