Tips and Tricks for getting the best Cape Fear area rental home experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your Cape Fear area vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking the best Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Morning Light - Featured Home in 2010 Haven Magazine has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
