How to find the best Ocean Isle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. BEACHFRONT!!! Recently Updated 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Cape Fear area attraction you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
