Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a budget.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
