Vacation rental tips:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Two Buoys And A Gull: Private Pier, Floating Dock Ideal for Fishing or Kayaking has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
