Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oak Island home on the Davis Canal with private boat dock. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
