Cape Fear area vacation rental booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental:

  • Start by having your group choose vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Doc House - Charming Ocean + Maritime Forest Home, Private Boardwalk, BHI Club, Near Marina, Pets OK has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
