Tricks and tips to get the optimal Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing the best rental home in Holden Beach:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront home with washer\/dryer and private walkway to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
