Tips and Tricks to get the best Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. THE ABSEALUTELY is the perfect house for family vacation has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
