Sticking to a budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.

  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise.
