Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose yourrental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. \"Pineapple Plantation West\" - Pet Friendly Oceanfront Duplex, 4 Bedrooms \/ 2 Bathrooms has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
