Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Salt & Light: Spacious, Custom-built, Oceanfront Home Close to Splash Pad, Park has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
