Finding the best Cape Fear area rental experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your Cape Fear area vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sand Castle - Spacious stand alone home on the south end has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
