How to get the best Oak Island rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Book your Cape Fear area rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the perfect Cape Fear area rental home:

  • First, have your family choose vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Seashell Cottage: Screened porch, close to the beach, private pool. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
