How to get the best Bald Head Island vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.

  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words.
