Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Booking in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. The Inkwell - A Cozy and Spacious Beach Cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
