Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Cottage, just steps from the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area attraction you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
