Looking for a really unique Canal Front Island hideaway with its OWN private boardwalk, marina front screened/unscreened porches and decks, a game-room, unparalleled VIEWS...and is STOCKED with amenities to savor those painted sunrises and salty evening breezes? "The Sailor's Lodge" may be just the sandcastle you've been looking for! Managed by SWRE, this vintage and impeccably accessorized bungalow will be sure to be the backdrop where many a-memories are made. From vitamin SEA sports and beach-combing, to a fast jaunt Downtown, heaven is TRULY at your sandy fingertips!

Your property:

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons! It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The Home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and is less than a 10-15 min. walk to downtown CB and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, and FIREWORKS every Thursday! We welcome you to sit back, relax and appreciate yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

This home is a convergence of the original 1970's period craftsmanship (knotty pine in some ceilings, original pine floor in others), a opulent array of FUN and RETRO furnishings, MODERN updates and TECH upgrades throughout, and most of all... the home is MARINA FRONT with the Atlantic Ocean access barely a block to your East. It really is a ONE-OF-A-KIND experience!

As you pull up to "The Sailor's Lodge", you are immediately greeted by the home with some salty beach breezes and pelicans flying in synchrony overhead! Two cars of relatively ANY size can park under each half of the carport. The possibility of bringing a modest trailer is also possible, space permitting!

The highlight of booking this throw-back bungalow becomes evident in short order as you walk East along the cinder block and crushed granite path running down the left or right side of the home. An artificial turf yard comes into view with seating for 4, a Cape Fear River front swing, and memories for ALL! If a riverside conversation with dunes of feather grass rustling faintly close by doesn’t help everybody clear one’s respective salty air and whisk those cobwebs away, I don’t know what will!

Then again, maybe REST isn’t what you need! It’s EXERCISE! How about some kayaking or paddle-boarding off your private riverfront deck or a morning dip in the Atlantic up the block! With an ICWW coastline as your backdrop and thew SEA a block up as your "front yard", you can enjoy ANY NUMBER of outdoor activities in your SANDBOX! The first floor of the lodge is equipped with a Game Room complete with a foosball table, Intelligent TV, beanbag chair, half bath (bathroom #1), and PLENTY of storage for action and adventure!

Ascending the steps to your bungalow, an outdoor dining area and modest screened in porch is set off towards the rear of the home to ensure gusts of sea salt in ANY weather. Your 3 bedroom/1 bath CB get-a-way opens into a freshly furnished family room splashed with vivid beachy colors, combined with an open dining area and modern kitchen. Panoramic ICWW vistas are visible from the west side of the home through a number of slides, decks, and windows. The modern chef’s kitchen is entirely equipped with all of the basics, and beyond. Stainless steel, bespoke tile work, granite amenities, and vintage furnishings of all shapes, sizes, and styles will catch your attention as you traverse deeper into your sandcastle.

The living room features a pair of vintage blue lounge chairs along with a tan microfiber couch and loveseat set that’s ideal to sink deep into after a full day of Sand, Surf, and Sun. A modest library resides across various shelving units throughout the home if looking for a long overdue tech detox where you can immerse yourself a bit deeper into the vitamin SEA that our coastal paradise affords!

Off to the Southside of the home, all 3 bedrooms respectively await with anticipation! On your immediate left rests the laundry area for when it’s time to do a load of those Hawaiian shirts you’ve been waiting ALL YEAR to use along with the Full bathroom (bathroom #2 with a shower+tub combo)! A few feet further left sits Bedroom #1 the “kid’s room” with pair of Single beds, intelligent TV, and a FULL blast of nostalgia!

Across the hall is Bedroom #2. Accompanied by a Queen size bed, the room sports a comfortable and extravagant vibe and is accompanied by a expansive swatch of river view just outside your Western facing window of the yacht basin. Back into the hall, bedroom #3 with it's Vivid and Bold look, a Full size bed, and its own intelligent TV rounds out your beachy bungalow.

The outdoor shower is located outside to help get that sand off of those toes!

Neighborhood overview

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We really have an striking community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has numerous vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Units @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Carolina Beach

The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking costs restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking tons and on-street parking spaces.

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorbikes, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple cars, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Located in Carolina Beach, this vacation home is on the waterfront. Carolina Beach Boardwalk is a popular attraction and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach. Traveling with kids? How to get the best Carolina Beach vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. \"The Sailor's Lodge\": Drop anchor one block to the SEA, with River Front views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
