Tricks and tips to get the very best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. The Sand Bucket is within walking distance to the beach and boardwalk. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
