Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Unsinkable Mary has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
