Cute downtown bungalow with enormous, shady backyard, and just 1-3 blocks away from some of the best eateries, antique stores, wine bar, and yoga studio in the city.

Just 8 blocks (about a 15-min. walk) to the Riverwalk!

Appreciate the huge backyard, calming about under the towering oak trees in Adirondack chairs. Close to all the best Wilmington offers.

Pet friendly (dogs only)

The space
The bungalow is a single-story ADU behind a completely modernized American Foursquare home originally constructed in 1897.

The bungalow has its own entrance, kitchen and bath, with a nice size living room. The sleeping room is just off the living room and features a queen bed with a plush pillowtop bed. There also is a desk in a corner of the living room for those who may need to work remotely. Fast internet is powered by AT&T fiber, with speed up to 1 GB per second. Independent testing by AirBnB verified upload and download speeds were 450+ GB per second.

Off-street parking is available, but on-street parking is rarely an issue, since St. Luke's Church takes up the block across the street. Off-street parking is shared between guests in the main home and guests in the bungalow.

The serene backyard is sizable for a downtown home and is shaded by towering oaks throughout most of the day

Robert Strange Park, the biggest park in downtown Wilmington, is a half-block away, with a public swimming pool, one baseball and 2 softball fields, basketball courts, in addition to 6 tennis/pickleball courts. Public swimming pool, operated by YMCA, is just two blocks away. Admission is just $1 kids, $3 adults, open only in the summer season.

Riverwalk - 15-min. walk
Wrightsville Beach - 20-min. drive
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center - 2.6 miles
EUE / Screen Gems Studios - 2.7 miles

Guest access
Guests will appreciate full access to the bungalow and the backyard. Access to the bungalow will be supplied through a digital intelligent lock, and a unique code will be assigned to the guest before check in.

Other things to note
We have four Ring outdoor cameras installed on the exterior of the home. Three are Ring doorbells (one at each entrance), and one is a Ring camera/floodlight positioned above the driveway.

Strategies for getting the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Wilmington. Book your Cape Fear area rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the right Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Wonderful Downtown Cottage - Big Backyard - Pet Friendly! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
