Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose and book the best Cape Fear area rental:

  • Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Your family will be close to everything when you stay at Once Upon a Tide! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
