Getting the best Cape Fear area rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Wilmington. To get the best value, change your family's Cape Fear area vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Sausalito Retreat-Firepit & Outdoor Oasis! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
