Welcome to The Grove! We are just steps from the beach (2-min. walk) and a 5-10 min. walk to a number of eateries, bars, stores, ice cream, and even a new brewery! Our namesake Live Oak trees, porches, and sun room make The Grove a calming sanctuary after a day of exploring the island. The enormous front and back yards offer ample space to roam. You will find this to be a peaceful and calming getaway for your family. Beach chairs, beach cart, and beach toys supplied. Book The Grove today.

The home is single-story with an open and airy feeling. The main highlights of the space include heritage live oaks and a relaxing conditioned sun room on the back of the home. The home has been freshly refreshed - including new floor, paint, ceilings, and granite countertops in the kitchen.

- There is a 55" ROKU TV in the living area and a relaxing sectional couch.
- The dining table seats six.
- There is an additional dining or work-space in the sun room. This room can be closed off to allow for remote work.

- Primary bedroom has a king bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed, and a third has bunk beds, all of which are memory foam beds.
- The primary bedroom has an ensuite with walk-in shower. While functional, the shower and vanity in the master bathroom are on the smaller end.
- The primary is also outfitted with a 32”ROKU TV and all bedrooms have suitcases racks and closets for use.

- There are front and rear decks with outdoor seating.
- A relaxing swing is located in the front yard.
- Peak-a-boo vistas of the ocean can be seen from the front yard.
- The backyard contains a fire pit for those cooler days -- or for those just wanting the experience.

About the Area

Located near the beach, this cottage is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Franklin Square Gallery and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Oak Island Golf Club and Founders Club at St. James Plantation. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To book the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.

  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
