Strategies to get the best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 1.6m to beach access. Across the street from Veterans Park and waterway access has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area beach you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
