Strategies for getting the perfect Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best rental home in Wilmington:

  • First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beach\/City Escape 1 bed 1 bath condo with pool! has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
