Tricks and tips to get the optimal Cape Fear area rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is high season in Oak Island. To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the perfectrental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Brig-A-Dune: Oceanfront, Dog-friendly Home with a Beautiful View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area attraction you are crazy about, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
