Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Cape Fear area rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. See Otter: Beachwalk cottage in East Beach overlooking the marsh of Davis Canal has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
