Tips to get the optimal Cape Fear area rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. Book your Cape Fear area vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Breathing Space - Arts & Antiques cottage - pet friendly! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
