Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking your Cape Fear area vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental home:

- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Gone Coastal Upper Unit. Easy walk to beach and boardwalk has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:

- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
