Looking for a really unique Ocean Front Pleasure Island hideaway with its OWN Infinity Pool, fire pit, Private Access and is STOCKED with amenities to appreciate those painted sunrises and salty breezes? "Candlewood Sands" may be the sandcastle you've been looking for!
Managed by SWRE, this vintage and impeccably accessorized Oceanfront get-a-way will be sure to be the backdrop where many a-memories are made. From beach-combing, to a fast jaunt Downtown, heaven is TRULY at your sandy fingertips!

Neighborhood description:

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The home itself is Ocean Front and is less than a mile from the heart of Carolina Beach and everything that is has to offer with its stores, activities, and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and savor the sand, surf, and sun. We really have an striking community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

The space:

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-aligned beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

"Candlewood Sands" lies directly in the middle of both Carolina and Kure Beaches respectively and is a long walk or short drive from downtown Carolina Beach and everything that is has to offer! In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail.

Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

"Candlewood Sands" represents an Ocean Front escape that's equal parts cozy and broad, also opulent... yet simple. Adorned with high end appliances and craftsmanship (with a flare of the original period architecture), a backyard complete with a private Infinity pool, fire pit, and beach access, through to the expanse of AWING vistas from one of the many balconies, windows, and decks... the sum of what makes up the parts of this exotic get-a-way's experience adds up to just ONE thing; An "UNFORGETTABLE" experience!

Candlewood is comprised of a 5 bedroom and 2 bathroom sandy footprint complete with 3 Queen size beds, 1 Full size bed, and a compact Twin over Twin bunk room for the kids! The 2 Full baths (one of which features a tub) of the home provides all of the amenities of home with a Salty twist!

With accessibility to each level separately from both inside AND outside, it's an Atlantic breeze to get to anywhere and everywhere you want to go! Taking the "breathtaking route" around back, you encounter a lower level combined laundry and storage room where both owner supplied beach amenities can be found and guests can utilize to store yours!

It's IMPOSSIBLE not to be awe-struck by the aquamarine infinity pool and that bigger "pool" of varying blue hues in the horizon as you continue to discover the grounds. Other property features from the private boardwalk and outdoor shower, to the poolside lounge chairs and variety of outdoor eating, resting, and relaxing stations are irresistible detours leading up to entering your Sand Castle.

Upon entering, you immediately get that "beach bungalow" vibe as you're met by ceilings adorned in period oak, exposed beams, and a bright interior that accepts the natural light to stream and bounce throughout the home. As you pass through the Lower family room (complete with Ocean vistas from the couch, upsized intelligent TV, etc.) you happen upon the kids room off to the Right complete with a bespoke Twin + Twin bunk (bedroom #1). Look fast, as you nearly missed bedroom #2 off to your Left with a Queen size bed and King size Atlantic vistas!

Passing on through the family room on your Left rests Full bathroom #1 complete with an upsized granite double vanity and walk-in seated shower with bespoke tile work. The bathroom was strategically placed so that it's equidistant and accessible to ALL 3 Eastern bedrooms. Everything you need, and right where you need it!

Heading further West into Candlewood, a Full bathroom (bathroom #2) complete with a tub greets you along the way to bedrooms #4 and #5. Bedroom #4 is first up complete with a Full size bed, oak ceiling, chest-of-drawers, and more! A bit further down the hall sits bedroom #5!

Bedroom #5 sits on the biggest Sandy footprint of all bedrooms (note for travelers with a infant or young kid) and has it's own personal seating area, a huge closet where a second washer and dryer conveniently are on hand and a Queen size bed of its own. Continuing on, we set off for the highest elevation of Mt. Candlewood!

Atop the stairway, an open modern kitchen, dining area, and Upper living room await when it's time to refuel and relax. Two upsized windows overlooking the Atlantic make spotting pelican's all too simple. If the weather is ideal for some Salty Sea air, just ease over to the balcony slider, head on through and .... breathe!

There's Sun Fun Units @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Other things to note:

•Linens (sheets, bath towels, wash cloths, floor towels, pillowcases, etc.) along with pillows and a summer comforter ARE included in your suite rental!

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorbikes, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple cars, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking the best Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. \"Candlewood Sands\" Ocean Front SEA Luxury with Infinity Pool and Atlantic views has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
