Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Wilmington. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Center of Wilmington-Zen on 42nd-fully fenced yard-Pets ok has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
