Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the best rental home in Holden Beach:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Hobbs Realty - Oceanfront Condo w\/Private Oceanfront Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
