Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Do you want to go to the beach \"Oar Knot\"? has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
