Booking the best Cape Fear area rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Duplex with multiple balconies & backyard - 3 blocks from the ocean has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
